Mosaic Tile Co. (Zanesville, OH). "Ceramic, Granitex, Faience Mosaics"
(Catalog No. 108). Ceramic mosaics became the most popular type of flooring
at the turn of the 20th century. This catalog illustrates three different
types of mosaics developed by one of the country's largest manufacturers.
The patterns offered, some in color, others in black and white, show a wide
variety of tile shapes and sizes as well as illustrations of bathrooms and

catalog, this one is devoted entirely to the enrichment of the fireplace and offers a comprehensive
selection of mantels and arches of high quality and good design. Twenty-one unique facades adorn the
15 pages of this catalog published in 1931 or 32. Price: $10.

National Tile Co. (Anderson, IN). Ceramic Mosaic Catalogue No.
12. Color Plates 100 to 135 demonstrate numerous ways in which
different colored ceramic mosaics of the same size can be used to
create large decorative patterns for floors. Every pattern includes a
contrasting border treatment. Both the square and the rectangle are
featured. 36 pages in full color, 1922. New in '06. Price: $75.

Pacific Tile & Porcelain Co. (Paramount, CA). "Ceratile and Ramona." Want a
taste of the 1950s? While Ramona was this company's standard 4-1/4" wall
tile, Ceratile was claimed to be "revolutionary." And you'll have to see it
to believe it! Thirty-four original designs, offering varied surface texture
and color. The company employed "semi-automatic methods, thus allowing
production in commercial volume." Talk about period tile! 20 pages, c. 1953.

This catalog illustrates arch mantels (dimensions included), embossed inserts and borders

C. Pardee Works. (Perth Amboy, NJ). Pardee Tiles. Here is a complete listing of
the companys White Wall Tile and White Ceramics including trim shapes of every description
as well as installation shots; Flint Tile and Ceramics, which includes field tile and border
patterns for floors, many in color, along with select installations; Grueby-Faience with two
pages of tiles in color in addition to pictures of installations; Satin Finish Tile for bathrooms
complete with accessories in color; and a 16-page section on Royal-Delft Faience, an import from
Holland, showing an extraordinary collection of
individual decorative tiles. In full color.

Robertson Art Tile Co. (Trenton, NJ). Illustrated Catalogue of Embossed
Art Tiles. This is a rare find, likely to be one of Robertson's earliest
catalogs, if not THE earliest. Here are 14 Plates of embossed tiles that
include wall tiles, caps and base tiles, borders, trim shapes, mantel
facings and more, even a historic rendering of the original factory with
horse-drawn wagons out front! 15 pages, circa 1900. Price: $15.

Robertson Art Tile Co. (Trenton, NJ). "The Application of Ceramic Mosaic for Walls and Floors." Following
an introduction containing the rational for using ceramic mosaic tiles in commercial and public installations,
including some of the company's early successes, this catalog offers a number of full page photographic illustrations
of conspicuous places where ceramic mosaics have been used both on walls and floors; also on the exterior of buildings,
where they are used for decorative purposes. Also includes "A Treatise on Swimming Pools," promoting the use of ceramic
mosaics in pools. 44 pages, c. 1910.

Robertson Art Tile Co. (Trenton, NJ). "Robertson Planatile Series." Here is a distinctive line of Robertson
decorative tiles, what the company called "An Innovation in Tile Proportion," for the pre-Depression marketplace,
complete with "set-back caps," "plastagard cap," and "buttress base." See the "Flower-Petal" glazes introduced by
the company, an early offering of pastel colors. 16 pages, 1930. Price: $15 with color.

Rookwood Pottery (Cincinnati, OH). "Decorated Tiles, Mantel Facings
and Complete Mantels." This is the ultimate in Rookwood, exquisitely
presented, almost like new! The tiles are dazzling in their clarity
and variety: individual design tiles, panels, murals, mantels,
arches, corbels, grates, even some trim shapes. In addition, there
are fountain backs, floor to ceiling wall arrangements, even fully

Bulletin No. 6, showing a colorfully tiled interior for every room of the house, and Everything in Tiles
from Sweets Catalogue showing the floor, wall, and decorative tile products available from the company.

floor patterns with border treatments created from combinations of the companys flint tile produced from pure

Rexford Newcomb, Planning Recommendations and Characteristics of, Maintenance of, Uses of and How to Buy Sparta Tiles.
This 64-page catalog provides a vast amount of information on Sparta Tiles and several photo examples of various tile
installations in schools, hospitals, public and commercial buildings as well as private homes. Most spectacular are

catalog contains an incredible array of luxurious period interiors in full color, all presented in a painterly fashion
typical of the time. Several bathroom floor plans are included. 1929. 48 pages (some have been removed from the original
but the integrity of the catalog is undiminished). Price: $80 in color.
