Tile Heritage Foundation

A Word of Explanation

We chose this format for the Tile Heritage Resource Directory because the information can be printed directly from our database, and it provides for a maximum of information per entry, per page. We expect to print a new edition every year, so we hope you will provide us with updated information as soon as it becomes available. In spite of our best efforts there will be errors found in the data. Once again, please accept our apologies and provide us with necessary corrections.

Most commonly asked questions:

Who is listed in the Tile Heritage Resource Directory? Only those people who have phoned, faxed, emailed or mailed in their codes as described on the inside of the front cover. All are welcome, and the basic listing is free.

I'm a Tile Heritage (THF) member. Shouldn 't all members be listed? Although we realize most people would like to be listed, we also know that there are some who prefer to keep their names off lists because of the abuse of such lists for commercial purposes. We have left it up to our members to act on their own behalf by sending us their code preferences and other pertinent information.

I'm a THF member with a single digit code on my mailing label. Shouldn't I be listed? No. Single digit codes are generic-ET and FT as well. You must specify a double digit code to be included. See the inside of the front cover for instructions.

Do I have to be a THF member to be listed? No, anyone can be listed, but we would encourage you to join the Foundation. See the inside of the back cover for instructions.

I'm listed in the Directory, and there's a 4 or 5 digit number following "THF#." Does this mean I'm a current THF member? Not necessarily. It may mean that you were formerly a member. Membership fees are due annually. Expiration dates appear on mailing labels as well. If you are uncertain of your status, call the Tile Heritage office at 707-431-8453.

I'm in the Directory, but why isn't my phone listed? As a courtesy to those listed, we do not list home telephone numbers. If your home and work phone is the same number, you may so indicate and we will include it in your listing. And don't forget to supply us with your new area code.

Is it too late for a listing? It's never too late. We are already compiling information for our next Directory. Read the inside of the front cover and then fill out the information requested. Fax (707-431-8455) or mail us a copy, and we will see that you are listed in the next edition.

What about the "Specialty Description"? Anyone may submit a description of their work, products or service. Maximum length: 170 characters, including punctuation and spaces. THF members may have their description printed for free and revised at no cost. Non-members must pay $20 for a specialty description; the same amount is charged for any future revisions of the description.

WWW and e-mail? E-mail addresses and web-sites are included in the basic listing at no charge. You may fax this information to 707-431-8455 or email foundation@tileheritage.org.

What is the difference between a TA (tile artist) and a TM (tile maker)? A TA is one who does artwork on bisque tile or one who primarily values his/her artwork over that of tile making. A TM is one who makes tiles from scratch, either decorative or field.

None of the codes seems to fit me except ET. How can I be listed in the Directory? ET is a generic code that presumably fits everyone. We have reserved it for members who chose to be included in the Directory. The only way to be listed at present is to choose one of the other codes, even if it's not a perfect fit.

What is the cost of the Tile Heritage Resource Directory? $25 ($20 for THF members). Members who contribute $60 or more each year will be offered the Directory for a nominal charge of $5 to help cover production expenses.
