Elizabeth Raybee
Potter Valley, California

Elizabeth Raybee is an artist whose free spirit is dramatically reflected in her medium of choice. Recognized as a mosaic artist and teacher with an international reputation, she was schooled as a painter and printmaker at the Kansas City Art Institute. Moving to San Francisco, she taught painting, drawing, batik, mosaics and business for visual artists at the Fort Mason Art Center, San Francisco City College and through her own studio. Mosaic has been her primary medium since 1988. After twenty years of breaking tiles, she also began making some in 2000.

In 1995 Elizabeth moved to her Mendocino County farm several hours' drive north of San Francisco where she began presenting mosaic workshops during the summer. Students came from far and wide to learn from the "mosaic guru." She has been a guest lecturer and visiting artist for such varied groups as the San Francisco Open Studios, Oregon College of Art and Craft, the Sanchez Art Center and the University of Sarawak in Malaysia.

Visit Elizabeth Raybee's remarkable website at www.eraybeemosaics.com to see more of her work firsthand and to find her impressive list of exhibitions. Along with her continuing workshops, she offers a "delightfully instructive" 90-minute video that teaches the ancient art of mosaic.
